Healthy Body-Healthy Mind
Project Healthy Body-Healthy Mind is a weeklong program for middle school students which focuses on developing a well-rounded individual by balancing the role of health education, fitness, nutrition and positive mental attitude.

Students receive instruction in mathematics as it relates to health, physical education as it relates to a healthy lifestyle, self-motivation, and character development. The goal of this project is to stimate an awareness and exploration of self through engaging and motivational activities which inform and challenge the body and mind. Healthy Body-Healthy Mind is where students develop confidence and a postive mindset for success in life.

Healthy Body-Healthy Mind is a collaborative effort by the Children's Spine Foundation, Alpha Center and Student Recreation Center at University of California, Riverside.

School Nurse Training

The Children’s Spine Foundation provides training for local school nurses for proper detection of spinal deformities such as scoliosis. Each year 25-40 school nurses attend a four hour training session for scoliosis detection provided by the doctors at the Haider Spine Center. The course includes background information on scoliosis and other spine conditions as well as “hands on” screening techniques with qualified health care providers.
